Evgenia Alexandrova

INTERVIEW: EVGENIA ALEXANDROVA (THE SECRET AGENT, 2025)

We spoke with Evgenia Alexandrova, cinematographer of “The Secret Agent” (2025), directed by Kleber Mendonça Filho. In the interview, Evgenia discusses the visual choices that shaped the film: a sunny noir, luminous, where crimes happened in broad daylight. She also talks about working with Wagner Moura on set and the exchange of energy between the person behind the camera and the person in front of it. Also read our review of “The Secret Agent”.

Evgenia also shares her Brazilian film recommendations: “Tatuagem” (2013), by Hilton Lacerda, about a queer theater in Recife at the end of the dictatorship, and “The Invisible Life of Eurídice Gusmão” (2019), by Karim Aïnouz.
